Carl Driscoll, DDS, FACP


Carl Driscoll, DDS, FACP joined the Bethesda TMJ practice in September 2018. Dr. Driscoll recently completed 21 years at the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry where he served as a Professor at the University of Maryland Dental School and as Director of the Prosthodontic Residency. Prior to his arrival at the University, Dr. Driscoll spent over twenty years with the U.S. Army retiring at the rank of Colonel. Having received many awards and medals while in the Army, Dr. Driscoll is very proud of the fact that he was one of the less than 1% of the officers selected for early promotion to full Colonel. Dr. Driscoll finished his military career as Program Director of the Prosthodontic Residency at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1997. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) and the Academy of Prosthodontics.

Professional Recognition

Dr. Driscoll has served as President of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, President of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and as President of the ACP. Very few individuals have accomplished this trifecta honor. He has been awarded both the Garver-Staffanou and Moulton Awards from the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics for excellence in running a Prosthodontic Residency and for all his contributions to the field of Prosthodontics. Dr. Driscoll has given over 350 presentations nationally and internationally and has authored over 75 publications. He most recently published the first comprehensive textbook on Digital Dentistry and will receive the American College of Prosthodontists Educator of the Year award during their annual meeting in November.
