Headaches

Headaches are a frequent manifestation of TMJ problems. 50% of all migraines, for example, are dentally related. When your neurologist has tried many migraine medications, such as Imitrex without success, it is highly likely that the cause of your migraines could be caused by a dental problem. At times migraine headaches can be triggered by tension headaches. In most cases, good alignment of your jaws, and correct spread of the forces in your mouth between your teeth and your joints, will reduce and eliminate those tension headaches.

What are some of the treatments for headaches?
Treatments may include:

  • Orthotic appliances, which will keep your teeth and jaws aligned and stop the damage of grinding and clenching
  • Building the right support in your mouth by restoring missing teeth, tooth structure, or other structures in the oral cavity
  • Repairing and healing your mouth and other related anatomical structures in your skull
  • Changing life style and habits
  • Diet changes

Our dental practitioners will focus on your headaches, and try to solve their possible dental cause.
